As I have mentioned before, I just cannot resist the cute.
Things with little faces (especially tiny things) that look happily up at me bring me a very uncommon amount of joy LOL.
Soooo......Meet Zassou :D!
Story: Zassou is a weed who admires florists and dreams of one day being featured in a bouquet. But because he is a weed it is said that this will probably never happen. However this does not get him down and according to Wikipedia he has "a positive attitude beside an unrelenting spirit for success!"
"Weed." All of the Japanese to English translations in this post have been done by my fiancé, Shinji ~ who is the most wonderful & patient fiancé one could ever have XD!
In fact, aside from maybe 1 or 2 other characters in his series, Zassou is one of the only ones that is actually joyful (the dust ball apparently is also happy).
I always have had much <3 for the underdog, and besides from being super cute to me, I really feel that he has a very positive message about being happy & just living life in a positive way. Which I very much agree with and admire!
Zassou is part of a series of characters from Sumikko Gurashi, made by San-X. It basically means "Corner Living" or "Adventures in Cuddly Corners". All the little characters are super shy & worried about something, so they like to hang out in corners where they feel more secure lol. As I said, I've always had a soft spot for the underdog, and these guys are just so cute & silly that I seriously love them. They include:
Nisetsumuri: A slug who pretends it's a snail and puts lots of different things on its back to try and make friends

"Often times wears stuff that are not empty."
LOL.
Ebi Furai No Shippo: The tail end of a shrimp tempura who was left behind because it was just too hard to eat.

The bottom left was a little harder to read, but says something about a "hand hold pouch." Anyone who might be able to translate this, pls hit me up! :)
It is good friends with Tonkatsu, the very corner end piece of a leftover pork cutlet "who is only 1% meat and 99% fat, so was left on the plate after the meal was finished. It often puts condiments like sauce, salt, and mustard on itself to appeal that it is indeed still edible."
LOL I think they are sleeping in a bed of curry.
Tokage: The son of the Loch Ness Monster who pretends he is a lizard to avoid being captured for a big reward.

I think that these kinds of things really reaffirm that I do have the Japanese "kawaii" gene running through my veins LOL
Shinji has bought me at least 5 or 6 Sumikko Gurashi blind boxes to date :D! Yay
I ask him to pick them out for me from the shelf because I am Notorious for picking the wrong ones X( . When we were young, my bestie & I would always go into the Japanese market, bee-line straight for the blind boxes, look at the backs and say, "Okay, I would be happy if I got all of them except This one!" And of course this would be the one we would get LOL.
And I am very happy to report that on our very first try we got Zassou :) !
He is now attached to my purse, and helps me do errands like go to buy groceries and more blind boxes LOL.
